Shortly after our older daughter was born, a friend was visiting and showed me her beautiful Storchenwiege wrap. She had the Inka pattern, and she demonstrated a quick carry and I was sold. I remember scouring the internet for the best price on one of these wraps, and settled on the 5.2m Ulli. I loved it then and I love it now. Through two children (both big time pukers) it has withstood a lot of washing and wearing without the colours fading or the textile strength weakening.
When we decided to start selling products made by people other than us, the first brand that I wanted to carry was Storchenwiege. No one in Victoria, BC sold them. Most people hadn’t even heard of them. But I was constantly receiving comments on the beautiful craftmanship and the versatility of what is essentially a long piece of fabric.
The weave of Storchenwiege wraps is quite impressive. It’s also difficult to describe or photograph! The way it is woven together is part of what makes it so strong and functional. The fabric is OEKO tex 100 certified, which means you can rest easy having it so close to your baby.
Storchenwiege wraps come to us all the way from Germany. They are “Germany’s favourite wrap”. They were designed by an engineer of textiles who felt that the options available to her children (for carrying their children!) were not satisfactory. The focus on durability, ease of use, softness, diagonal stretch, and finally the ecological specifications of the Storchenwiege guided the process.
To celebrate the exceptional quality of the Storchenwiege wraps and ring slings, we are offering free shipping within Canada and the United States on all Storchenwiege products until April 15th! (Up to a maximum of $15.) Enter code storchfreeship at checkout.
We also have four remaining Suse’s Deluxe Kindercoats. They are 10% off until they’re gone! It will be several months yet before they re-enter production, and they are one of our top selling products. Get one while you can–the inner fleece is especially ideal for cooler spring months!
